Mitcham Lab
Overview
Our laboratory’s research focuses on maintaining the quality of fruits and nuts after harvest. Our research covers a diverse range of topics from fundamental to applied aspects of postharvest biology and technology. Common research themes relate to calcium deficiency disorders, regulation of ripening in pear fruit, controlled and modified atmospheres or 1-MCP to maintain fruit quality, control of physiological disorders of fruit, developing fresh cut fruit protocols, and postharvest insect control using CO2 or generally recognized as safe (GRAS) fumigants.
